Amanda Powell is a psychotherapist and owner of Therapy For Positive Aging. She has worked in the community in aging services for 18 years. She graduated from Western Illinois University in 2004 with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a minor in Law Enforcement Justice Administration. She graduated from Campbellsville University with a Master’s degree in Social Work in 2018, obtained her LSW in 2019, and obtained her LCSW in 2021. Prior to starting her therapy practice she worked as Director of Client Services and Social Worker for Western Illinois Home Health Care. She also worked for the agency Alternatives for 8 years in multiple programs such as: a Hospital Based Care Coordinator doing state pre-screens for seniors entering a nursing home, as a Protective Service Specialist conducting elder abuse investigations, and then as a Care Coordinator Supervisor for the Illinois’ Department on Aging’s Community Care Program services. She is also a Certified Patient Advocate. Amanda was born and raised in the area.
Amanda feels passionately about helping seniors and caregivers improve their mental health and coping skills.
